The Thakoon brand is a reflection of the diverse background of founder and designer, Thakoon Panichgul. Born in Thailand, raised in Omaha and New York-based, Panichgul’s creations are a skillful blend of distinct influences.
After earning a degree in business at Boston University, Panichgul moved to New York. After several years as an editor at Harper’s Bazaar, Panichgul enrolled at The Parsons School, where he established the pillars of his design approach, laying the foundation for his namesake label.
In September 2004, Thakoon presented his debut collection, and quickly became one of the industry’s most celebrated new talents. In 2006 he was a recipient of the Vogue/CFDA Fashion Fund award.
Based on innovative construction and unique textile development, Thakoon’s concentration revolves around the nuances of classical design and the continued reexamination of its process, where subtleties take center stage.
